The Sunlight of the Spirit Professional Team
Experienced and Caring Professionals Dedicated to Helping Families in Crisis due to Chemical Dependence and Compulsive Gambling.
Diane E. Hurd, Executive Director, is a retired human resource executive. She has over 25 years of experience working in Corporate HR along with 20 years of knowledge in the areas of addiction and family recovery. Diane rose to the position of Vice President, Compensation and Benefits, at Education Management Corporation in Pittsburgh, where she designed and administered compensation and benefits for over 7,000 employees before retiring in 2003. Her personal experience with the family programs of Hazelden and The Betty Ford Center brought her out of retirement with missionary zeal.
Andrew Eppich, MSW, Bereavement Specialist, is currently working as a social worker for Family Hospice and Palliative Care. He received his Master of Social Work degree from Syracuse University. Andrew’s clinical experience spans a multitude of medical, psychiatric and addiction settings. From 1997 to 2002 he worked at University of California at San Diego at Owen Clinic with AIDS patients. He has also had the privilege of working with San Diego Hospice as a clinical social worker and bereavement counselor. In addition he has completed over 4,000 hours of clinical supervision in preparation for receiving his clinical license.
Jenn Fairbank, RYT, AFAA, Certified Personal Trainer and Yoga Instructor, has been a Certified Personal Trainer through the Aerobics Fitness Association of America since 1998 and she has been teaching Yoga classes since 2002. She is trained in Yogafit Levels I, II, III, and IV and possesses her Registered Yoga Teacher certification. Jenn provides yoga instruction, and her practices, designed specifically based on recovery and the 12 Steps of AA and AL-ANON, can be viewed in the Sunlight of the Spirit Communications, Inc. DVD “Yoga for Recovery”. She is also currently in the Master of Social Work Program at the University of Pittsburgh and completed an internship with The Sunlight of the Spirit in December 2007.
Jill S. Fine, M. Ed., NCC, CAC, received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from Duquesne University. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Addictions Counselor (CAC) Diplomat by the Pennsylvania Certification Board. Jill is a dynamic speaker, clinician, and educator, using a creative “hands on” style. Ms. Fine is a former therapist for Gateway Rehabilitation Center, where she designed and facilitated the weekly family program at Gateway Monroeville.
Elizabeth Massella, M.D., Medical Director, is a practicing pediatrician with Greentree Medical Associates, affiliates of West Penn Allegheny Health Systems. She has a special interest in addiction medicine and has dedicated her career to helping children and their families who are affected by the disease of chemical dependency. Dr. Massella is pursuing her ASAM credentialing with a focus on adolescent and addiction medicine. Dr. Massella provides sessions during SOS one-day and week-end programs on The Disease Concept, and The Disease of Codependency. She offers her expertise to adolescent participants, as well as professional guidance to parents. Dr. Massella’s medical expertise combined with her extensive knowledge of how addiction impacts the family contributes to the solid base of professionalism found at SOS.
Georgiann Robbins worked as a teacher but found her real interest in social work with mentally challenged adults, and in the area of child welfare. Her last career was as a realtor. For over 20 years she has successfully worked 12 step programs and provided support for man addicts, alcoholics and family members in recovery.
Chris Wolf, MS, AAMFT, Family Therapist, possesses expertise working with addicts and family members. She is an independent contractor, facilitating at least two of the group sessions throughout the weekend residential experience. She has expertise in the areas of alternative healing, meditation, and stress management.
